Testing & Therapy Fees in Hermosa Beach
At MP Wellness, most evaluations for children and teens cost $4,000–$6,000: ADHD and learning differences $4,000, autism $5,000 and complex clinical evaluations $6,000. An adult ADHD evaluation is $1,000. Therapy is $250 per 45-minute session. We're out of network and bill your insurance on your behalf.

What the evaluation fee includes
Every evaluation follows the same four steps, and the fee covers all of them. School or IEP meetings are billed separately at $250 per hour.
- A clinical consultation to plan the evaluation
- All testing sessions
- Scoring, analysis and a written diagnostic report
- A feedback and recommendations session
Does insurance cover testing or therapy?
Sometimes, partly. We're an out-of-network provider, which means payment is due at the time of service. We then bill your insurance on your behalf. We can't guarantee coverage or reimbursement, but many families receive partial reimbursement, depending on their plan's out-of-network benefits, their deductible and whether the plan covers the service. We'll provide the documentation needed to support reimbursement, and we aim to keep the process as simple as possible.
Some plans cover psychological testing when it's needed to diagnose a medical or mental health condition, such as ADHD or autism, but exclude testing done only for school or learning purposes. Some require approval before testing starts (prior authorization). That's why it helps to call your insurer before you begin.
How to check your out-of-network benefits
Call the member services number on your insurance card and ask:
- Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health care?
- Is psychological testing covered out of network? For testing, the codes are usually CPT 96130, 96131, 96136 and 96137. For therapy, 90834 or 90837.
- What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much have I met this year?
- After the deductible, what percentage do you reimburse, and of what "allowed amount"?
- Do I need prior authorization or a referral? Does my plan exclude educational or learning-disability testing?
- How will I receive any reimbursement, and how long does it usually take?

Paying with an HSA or FSA
